Posted on January 30, 2020February 8, 2020 by Prasad Pamidipati

The author Shivani discusses the crucial aspect of emotional happiness in a series of interviews with Suresh Oberoi. The author argues that the key to emotional happiness is to realize we can choose our reactions to external circumstances. No one can make us sad or happy as we the creators of thoughts are ultimately responsible for it. Realizing this is an important factor in survival during extremely harsh circumstances such as World War 2 Nazi camps. Thoughts ultimately create our destiny. How thoughts lead to destiny is laid out as follows:

  1. Thoughts give rise to emotions and emotions lead to attitude
  2. Attitude turns as action towards people or circumstances
  3. Repeated action becomes habit leading to personality and destiny

How to choose Joyful thoughts?

  1. Practice awareness. Awareness is to identify our thoughts when they arise, Label them as Positive/Negative/Waste /Neutral.
  2. Positive are selfless thoughts giving rise to peace and joyfulness. Negative thoughts give rise to anger, Hatred or resentment. Waste thoughts are regarding past grudges. Neutral are just to do lists. Once you label the negative/Waste thoughts they get weakened . Changing the focus to positive thoughts will change our emotions and destiny
  3. We need to realize the power to choose thoughts and emotions is in our hands and we can choose Positive thoughts and be Joyful /Peaceful.
  4. Thoughts either drain us or energize us . Being aware, labeling and choosing right thoughts is crucial to creating happiness from inside out and changing our destiny.
  5. Night before you sleep and morning when you wake up are the crucial hours. Repeating yourself as a Peaceful, loving and happy person with visualization adds to your happiness

The book is in Conversational format. Book deals well with Personal transformation inside out . The optimal experiences which create happiness/flow such as travel, creating art are not covered.
